Most panels solve one problem and create another. Ours was designed to avoid that trade-off.

Compared with what is on the market

Gypsum board

  • Made through high-temperature calcination
  • Needs extra mineral wool for good acoustics
  • Ends up as construction waste

ALGA BioPanel

  • Formed and dried at room temperature
  • Absorbs sound through its own pores
  • Compostable at end of life

MDF and OSB

  • Pressed with formaldehyde-based glues
  • Can release VOCs indoors for years
  • Burns readily

ALGA BioPanel

  • No resin, no formaldehyde
  • Nothing harmful to off-gas
  • Mineral binder slows flame spread

PVC and foam

  • Fossil-based polymers
  • Toxic smoke and gases in a fire
  • Not biodegradable

ALGA BioPanel

  • Seaweed and lime
  • No synthetic polymers to burn
  • Returns to the soil

Bamboo and mycelium

  • Bamboo costs 3 to 4 times more per m²
  • Mycelium needs sterile growth and long lead times
  • Raw material is not available everywhere

ALGA BioPanel

  • Low-cost, fast-growing raw material
  • Simple process with no sterile lab
  • Seaweed is found on coasts worldwide
